Grade 11 Homework Schedule
Grade 11 students are now in the final stages of preparation for their I.G.C.S.E. examinations in
May - June 2008. It is, therefore, critical that tasks assigned for homework are given the highest level of priority.
Homework:
- encourages and promotes good private study habits and attitudes
- reinforces class lessons and generates practice of the topics taught
- consolidates learning through revision
- prepares students for future study
- encourages individual learning, research and reading
Guidelines
- Homework is regarded as an integral part of the instructional programme and the satisfactory completion of all homework tasks is mandatory.
- In addition to any written homework, Grade 11 students are expected to study independently every day, setting aside time for research and revision. Additionally, they should study in a self-disciplined and organized way for at least three hours over each weekend.
- Students are required to keep a Homework Book, in which each homework task must be recorded. Against each task should be written the date by which the work is due. Completed homework must be given directly to the teacher concerned.
- Grade 11 students will be given 3 or 4 pieces of homework, making a total working time of around 3 - 3½ hours according to the schedule below:
What happens when homework is not completed on time?
If homework is handed in late or incomplete, the student will be required to attend a two-hour Homework Detention the following Friday afternoon from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Parents will be given at least 24 hours notice of this and are asked to support the school in ensuring that students understand that we take homework very seriously.
