Grade 9 Homework Schedule
Guidelines
- Homework is regarded as an integral part of the instructional programme and the satisfactory completion of all homework tasks is mandatory.
- In addition to any written homework, all students are required to read independently every day and to set aside time for independent study and revision. Grade 9 students should have become self-disciplined in their private study as an essential preparation for the demanding examination programmes in Grades 10 & 11.
Homework & schedule
- Three homework tasks are set and should be completed on the days indicated below. In addition, students are expected to read independently and maintain their Dialogue Journals for English.
- Students are required to keep a Homework Book in which each homework task should be recorded. Against each task should be written the date by which the work is due. Completed homework must be given directly to the teacher concerned.
- Each homework task is designed to take about 45 minutes of conscientious work, making a total homework time of no more than 2½ hours each day.
What happens if homework is not completed ontime?
If homework is handed in late or incomplete, the student will be required to attend Homework Detention the following Friday afternoon from 2:20 – 3:30 p.m. Parents will be given at least 24 hours notice of this and are asked to support the school in ensuring that students understand that we take homework very seriously.
